The capital of New Zealand. It is known as 'windy welly' as the high winds have caused the council to install glass wind panels along the streets as it gets so blustery...2nd only to Chicago.
I visited the amazing Te papa museum...3 times as it is so huge and you just can't take it all in on one vist. Went to both the old and new St Paul's cathedrals of Wellington, the National Library, Archives centre and went on a guided tour of Parliment and watched parliment in session from the viewing gallery.
Took a cable car up the hills of wellington and strolled around the Botanic Gardens. Many people live up on the hills and have their personal cable cars!
The drive to wellington was stunning as I saw my first snow capped mountains.
Quite like it here, lots to do and i haven't even started checking out the vast bar and club scene.
Did attempt to go to the National tattoo museum where they have lots of examples of traditional maori mokos which are face tattoos that tell the story of that persons life. Got there and it had shut down. Dissappointing!
